About BOB

BOB FM is the highly successful original template from where all of those “name” based classic hits/ hybrid based radio stations came from. Created by Howard Kroeger the BOB Format first burst onto the scene in Winnipeg MB Canada on March 4 2002. It was the first Variety/Adult hits based format of its kind to launch in North America to instant success and acclaim. BOB FM’s success spread across Canada like wildfire, before arriving in the U.S where the success story has been repeated many times over. Many markets saw their Variety/Adults Hits stations debut in the top three with Adults 25-54.

BOB Difference

Some pundits say that BOB FM is not as much a format as it is a Life Group! BOB FM can best be described as Generational. BOB really makes an impact on those listeners who feel that they might be a bit too old to be considered as part of Generation X, and a little to young to be considered a Baby Boomer. Don’t tell them we said this, but this is their own oldies format.

Along with a music library that is about three times the size of most other radio stations libraries, BOB not only has size going for him. He has got personality too! We have writers who “get it” and on BOB, the creative and imaging is treated with as much regard as the music. The success of BOB is truly a result of the right balance of art and the right balance of science.

Why BOB Works!

Success is a combination of hard work and the right conditions. For BOB it is no different. BOB was born at the height of the “Rip, Mix and Burn Revolution” and introduced the concept of true wide variety for terrestrial radio. Boasting a playlist of over 1,000 titles, BOB shot a hole in the theory that to stay successful a radio station needed to remain narrow with a very tight playlist. Up until BOB showed up, all available radio formats had been sliced and diced into very narrow offerings and packaged as “playing the most music”, or the “widest amount of variety”, or the “best music”. When BOB showed up on the block, those claims quickly fell by the wayside and with BOB Variety became a niche format.
